The proposed solution opened up the existing structure in its entirety creating a sense of transparency and visibility and a warm welcome for the new hotel guest and first time visitor.  Contemporary two storey cantilevered glazing was employed allowing striking views into and out of the hotel and the creation of new spaces and interiors.

The project was procured on a traditional basis with the contract awarded to David Patton & Sons and the challenging glazing installation was carried out by McMullen Architectural Systems.

The project was awarded an RSUA Design Commendation in 2000 and received extensive coverage in the local architectural and construction press.
