There is increased potential within the industry for the architect to perform a wide variety of roles. In any individual case the services will vary according to the expectations and requirements of the client. The following is a selected list of professional services provided by the practice.

Architectural Design Services

Robinson & McIlwaine offer a wide range of design services from ‘normal services’ as defined by the RIBA Plan of Work to additional design services, relating to site, buildings, developments, competition etc for which the practice has received a number of awards.

Masterplanning

The practice has wide experience in developing sustainable masterplanning solutions on both green field and brown field sites. We aim to fully understand our clients development challenges and add value to projects by understanding costs and working budgets to focus on culture, environment, ecology and society, examples being the Titanic Quarter Waterfront Regeneration Project in Belfast and the Gortlee Park Developement in Letterkenny, Co Donegal

Urban Deisgn

The provision of urban design tailored to the particular context of an individual city in terms of planning guidelines / restoration, considerations of context, CABE guidelines, the design and commercial potential of a site, with 3D computer and model-making design tools to aid such a service.

Interior Design Services

Interior design services range from the design and selection of finishes, furnishings and decoration, exhibition design, shop-fitting and advice on the commissioning or selection of works of art.

Refurbishment
/Conservation
/Regeneration

Architectural services in connection with the refurbishment and conservation of historic buildings and conservation areas, embracing research, inspections, detailed reports and applications for planning approvals in connection with listed buildings and conservation areas.

Building Surveys Reports

Services relating to the survey of existing buildings which may range from taking a detailed set of measurements, including levels, and translating them into careful drawings, to an inspection of varying degrees of thoroughness resulting in a written report. A ‘survey’ is conducted before the architect can proceed with design work.

Project Management
/Procurement

Management services include entire project management of building works, provision of constant site inspection, co-ordination of separate trade contracts, co-ordination and supervision of direct labour contracts and services to either party in connection with design and build contracts.

Adjudication Services

Acting in the role of Adjudicator.
On behalf of referring or responding parties, researching analysis and assembly of evidence, reviewing evidence and forming an opinion in preparation of submissions.

Expert Witness Services

Preparation of expert witness reports including review of briefing papers, necessary survey and research, technical investigations, together with authoritative expert opinion on matters of dispute.

Consultancy Services

Provision of services as a consultant architect on a regular or intermittent basis for clients seeking architectural advice related to proposed or existing buildings or sites and users relating to these.
